Type of Aid

As a student at º£½ÇÂÛ̳ (º£½ÇÂÛ̳), a wide range of financial aid options are available to help ease the burden of college expenses. Explore your options, and learn about the types of aid available to find the best fit for your needs!  

Federal Financial Aid

For most federal financial aid, you will first need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to confirm your eligibility. The FAFSA needs to be completed each new academic year.Ìý

  • 2025-2026 FAFSA: Applies to Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026 semesters.

  • Complete your FAFSA and submit all required documentation by this date in order for funding to be available for the first scheduled disbursement date of theÌýFall 2025Ìýsemester.
    • You may submit the FAFSA after this date, but it will not be guaranteed that you will be offered aid by the first scheduled disbursement date of the semester.

Grants

Grants are available through the Department of Education and awarded to students based on financial need as determined by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (). Grants do not typically need to be repaid. 

Three types of federal grants are available: 

  • Federal Pell Grant
  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
  • Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded based on diverse criteria such as GPA, program of study, cohort status, first-generation student status, or demonstrated financial need. Best of all, scholarships from º£½ÇÂÛ̳, º£½ÇÂÛ̳ Foundation, State of Idaho, and external sources typically do not require repayment.

By answering the first five sections of questions in the º£½ÇÂÛ̳ Scholarship Portal, you are automatically considered for most available º£½ÇÂÛ̳ scholarships. Additionally, you can explore over 10,000 external opportunities thoroughly vetted within the portal.

Work-Study

Work-study jobs allow you to get a head start on your future success while earning money to pay for your education. Part-time, hourly work-study positions on campus and in the community are not only a financial benefit but can help you gain valuable work experience and develop skills to help you throughout your college experience and beyond!

Loans are money that you or your parents borrow and repay with interest. Federal student loans can be offered at lower interest rates with various repayment terms. Some loans require you to demonstrate your financial need by completing the FAFSA, while others do not.
